Liposuction ( Lipectomy or Lipoplasty)

LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic treatments for people who have clear expectations for the procedure and are delighted with the outcomes. You will feel more at peace in your body, be able to wear a larger selection of clothes more easily, and have the ability to eliminate fat cells from very difficult-to-shift places of your body.

When a person has isolated pockets of fat that make certain parts of their body look out of proportion, liposuction is especially beneficial for men and women who are generally of a healthy weight. Gynecomastia, or the enlargement of the male breast, is also treated with liposuction. Fat suction, often known as “lipoplasty,” removes extra fat deposits from particular body parts (cheeks, chin, neck, upper arms, above breast, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves and ankles).

The areas above the breasts, the chin, the cheekbones, the neck, the upper arms, the buttocks, the hips, the thighs, the knees, the calves, and the ankles are the most popular places for liposuction.

The “Traditional Technique,” “Laser Technique,” and “Ultrasonic Technique (UA)” are a few of the often employed procedures. While the traditional method removes fat using a hollow tube, the laser and ultrasonic method first dissolves the fat using laser or ultrasonic radiation.

This technique can remove fat from body parts where conventional weight-loss methods have failed, albeit it cannot replace a good diet and regular exercise. By preserving your new form for years to come, you should maintain a balanced diet and regular exercise.

THE SURGERY

A small cannula, a surgical instrument with the shape of a hollow tube, is inserted deeply into the fatty tissue beneath the skin during liposuction, and suction is then used to remove the desired amount of fat. The skin’s surface layers are smoothed over while the fat beneath the skin is eliminated.

The most widely used technique is called a “tumescent procedure,” which involves injecting saline into the fat before it is removed. This solution typically contains a local anaesthetic and a constrictive agent, which work together to loosen the fat, constrict the blood vessels, and anaesthetize the area. This makes it easier for the surgeon to remove fat and causes less discomfort and bruising.

The term “liposculpture” refers to a technique for proportionally sculpting the thighs, hips, and waist.

Liposhaping: The elimination of all body fat with the goal of shrinking overall size

The technique known as lipostructure involves reshaping the facial contour using small portions of bodily fat that has been taken.

Lipobuilding is the process of enlarging body contouring or enlarging the breast size utilising higher amounts of removed body fat.

Skin shrinkage is caused by superficial liposuction, which removes fat from beneath the skin.

Tridimentional liposuction involves the removal of fat from all three levels of the body in order to contour, lift, and reduce the skin.

The majority of body parts are candidates for liposuction, including the belly, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheek, male and female chests, female breasts, knees, calves, and ankles.

The procedure known as “Fat Transfer” involves transferring the excised fat to fill in or improve other regions of the body or face contours.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The greatest candidates for liposuction are healthy weight individuals with firm, elastic skin and localised extra fat. Age is not a significant influence, although older patients’ skin tends to be less elastic, which means their outcomes could not be as good as those of younger patients with tighter skin.

Adults with firm, supple skin and strong muscle tone who are within 30% of their optimum weight

People in good health who are not suffering from any illnesses that could endanger their life or prevent them from healing

Nonsmokers

People with a good perspective and clear objectives for body contouring

Liposuction might be the solution for you if you are concerned by extra fat deposits on any part of your body that don’t go away with diet or exercise.

PREPARING FOR:

SURGERY

Keep in mind that it is your responsibility to tell the surgeon about any significant medical information that could affect the procedure or raise the risk. Your medical history is among the details you should give and provide as much detail about as possible (family disease, medical complications, etc. as well as previous surgeries and current and recent medications). Because risk factors vary and depend on numerous factors, no two patients are comparable.

Please let your surgeon know about any allergies, ailments, and medications you are taking prior to surgery (both prescription and non-prescription). You should refrain from taking aspirin and any aspirin-containing medication for two weeks prior to surgery in order to reduce the risk of post-operative bleeding.

Additionally, you should stop smoking two weeks before surgery because it can impact how you respond to anaesthesia and delay healing.

You should talk about and hear the surgeon’s advice during your consultation about your expectations for the procedure’s results.

Prior to the consultation, you will probably be expected to submit the surgeon pictures of your breasts. This will help with the evaluation and act as a guide after the operation.

Before departing for a foreign country, the patient must undergo blood tests to avoid potential cancellations.

PREOPERATIVE SCREENING

Prior to surgery, you will receive a consultation with your surgeon based on images initially and then in person after you arrive at the hospital. There, he or she will evaluate your general health and determine which body parts have fat deposits that can be removed with liposuction.

It’s possible that the doctor will determine that, for instance, a “tummy tuck” may actually be more appropriate for your needs.

RECOVERY AND POST-OPERATIVE CARE:

SURGERY DURATION:

Approximately one to two hours.

You will stay at the Hospital and be monitored – typically 1-2 nights and then be transported to your hotel for recovery

POST SURGERY:

After surgery, a compression garment is placed over the area to keep the body in place as the residual fat shrinks into the new shape. This garment is worn day and night for around two months, however it may be removed once a day for a quick shower or wash.

After the surgery, you can have some discomfort due to possible swelling, bruising, and stiffness.

In addition to soreness, swelling, and bruises for the first few weeks following surgery, it is typical to suffer fluid leaking and draining for a few days. Following surgery, your doctor will have you wear specialised compression clothing to aid with skin remodelling. Six weeks should pass while wearing them. Restricted movement and activity are typical during the healing process. You won’t really experience the results of liposuction until the first swelling subsides after many months. This typically begins between weeks four and six.

To help you keep your new shape, it’s critical to lead a healthy lifestyle and engage in regular exercise.

Surgery-related discomfort is temporary, and the majority of patients return to work within a week. You will be given oral painkillers to relieve discomfort, and antibiotics will be recommended to stop any infections.

The day after surgery will be difficult since you need to move about to encourage blood circulation. Make sure you move lightly and only for short periods of time, abstain from smoking, and avoid using aspirin or other anti-inflammatory drugs. The swelling should go down within a week or two after your dressing is removed, but bruising may remain three weeks or longer. Additionally, you might feel numb in some places, and it might take a few weeks before feeling returns.

DURATION OF STAY:

The majority of surgeons advise taking a Medical Holiday of 7 to 10 days, during which time you will schedule routine follow-up meetings with your surgeon. We advise that you engage in light exercise and indulge yourself to make the most of your healing time. There is a lot to see and do in Turkey if you feel up to it!

COMPLICATIONS AND RISKS

Bruising is not unusual and is visible in the first few days following surgery. It generally goes away after a week or two. Skin that waves is uncommon and rare. There is not much scarring. Where necessary, a 1 cm incision is created; with time, it will gradually fade and disappear.

People who have medical conditions like diabetes, heart illness, lung disease, or poor blood circulation, as well as those who have recently had surgery close to the area to be treated, are more at risk for complications following liposuction.

RESULTS

Soon after surgery, you will see a noticeable change in the shape of your body as the improvement will gradually get better as the swelling goes down. Any minor swelling often goes away after three months, and the final contour will be apparent in the next six months.

You might anticipate to go down a size in clothing after your treatment, but liposuction is intended to improve body shape, not lose weight, therefore this is not a weight loss therapy.

PREPARING FOR:

On how to be ready for surgery, follow the advice of your physician. You will receive directions on what to eat and drink, how much to smoke, and whether to take or not to take vitamins, iron supplements, and specific drugs.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Skin with a “lumpy” feel

Numbness

Pain & Discomfort

Swelling

Temporary bruising

RECOVERY

In one to two weeks, you can return to work.
For more demanding workout, allow two to four weeks (you can resume most of your normal activities within one or two weeks and begin some form of exercise soon after).
Complete recovery: One to six months.

If you maintain your weight and exercise, liposuction is a highly successful operation to sculpt an enhanced body shape with long-lasting results (and maintain realistic expectations). Many patients experience a boost in confidence as well as a greater appreciation for their bodies and their appearance.
