BREAST LIFT
Mastopexy, another name for breast lift surgery, is a procedure that elevates, lifts, and firms the breasts. To tighten the surrounding tissue, alter the breast contour, and support it, the extra skin is removed.
As we become older, our skin’s elasticity decreases, and breasts especially start to sag and lose their form. Breast augmentation and a breast lift work together to achieve more volume and firmness. A breast lift restores firmness and shape.
Women frequently feel as though their breasts are “empty,” especially after giving birth. Contrary to common opinion , a breast implant alone cannot raise or lift the breasts. A breast augmentation alone won’t produce satisfactory results if there is any degree of breast ptosis (sagging), as evaluated by a plastic surgeon, or the nipples are not in a favourable position.
By eliminating extra skin, the internal breast tissue is altered and designed to tighten and restructure the breast contour. The breasts appear firmer and higher as a result.
If you have any of the following , Then this procedure might be just for you:
Your breasts have lost their strength and contour, and they are drooping.
Your breasts are pendulous, elongated, or flattened in contour.
Your nipples are below the breast crease when you aren’t supported.
Your areolas and nipples are downward facing.
You have swollen areolas and strained skin.
One breast is smaller than the other.
IS A LIFT REQUIRED?
Your breasts will be evaluated and examined by your surgeon, who may take measurements and possibly photos for medical records. Your skin quality, nipple and areola location, as well as the size and form of your breasts, will all be meticulously examined. It’s critical that you disclose significant medical background data (known medical conditions, drug allergies, treatments previously received, previous surgeries, including breast biopsies plus any medications you currently take or have taken in the past).
THE SURGERY:
Similar to breast reduction surgery, breast lift surgery also involves making anchor-shaped incisions. In contrast, a breast lift necessitates the removal of extra skin rather than underlying tissue by the surgeon.
As previously noted, if desired, a breast implant can then increase breast size and form.
The nipple is elevated after an incision is made at the areola. Trimming the extra skin leaves a pattern that, when closed, will form the desired shape. Before stitching, breast implants may be implanted. A surgical bra or bandages are used to apply and secure gauze dressings. After that, a support bra should be worn for a few weeks as the breasts recover.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate is one who is:
Fully Developed
Displeased with the appearance of their breasts
Attempting to regain their youthful appearance following sagging brought on by gravity and age
improving rather than perfecting
Not intending to breastfeed or have children (these factors can stretch and reduce the volume of the breasts, therefore countering the benefits of breast lift and augmentation surgery)
Understanding that the form and size of their breasts before surgery affects the results
As with any cosmetic surgery, it’s crucial that you give up smoking weeks prior to reduce risks and improve blood circulation.
PREPARING FOR:
SURGERY
It is important to discuss and disclose any with us:
If you have a pre-existing medical condition
Any medication you use, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal remedies
Upon arrival, you will meet with your surgeon for a physical examination to finalise the surgical plan and discuss your goals and concerns. During this assessment, your doctor will choose the most appropriate course of action for you and go through all the specifics with you, including any potential drawbacks. You should go into surgery with realistic expectations. Your surgeon can also advise additional operations during this examination.
Prior to your surgery, it’s crucial that you follow these steps:
Give up smoking. Smoking can impair circulation and raise the risk of complications.

The particular method you use to elevate your breasts will depend on individual circumstances and personal preferences.
Three incisions are made using the most typical technique. Three incisions are made: one around the areola, one running vertically from the areola’s lowest border to the crease beneath the breast, and a third running horizontally beneath the breast and tracing the contour of the breast creases. The nipple and areola are elevated after extra breast skin has been removed. The size of the stretched areola caused by drooping breasts can therefore be decreased. (To retain feeling and the capacity to breastfeed, the nipples and areolas are kept linked to the underlying tissue mounds.)
RECOVERY AND POST-OPERATIVE CARE:
SURGERY DURATION:
This surgery generally is one to three hours, depending on how extensive the procedure.
You will stay at the Hospital and be monitored – typically 1-2 nights and then be transported to your hotel for recovery.
POST SURGERY:
You will be covered in elastic bandages, gauze dressings, and a surgical bra when you wake up from surgery. A tiny tube will be inserted into each breast to drain blood and fluids for the first few days.
It will bruise a little. Since everyone is unique, the degree of post-operative swelling and bruising depends on whether you tend to bruise easily. Applying ice packs or cold compresses to the area will reduce swelling and ease discomfort.
You will be given oral painkillers to relieve discomfort, and antibiotics will be recommended to stop any infections.
The pressure bandages will be taken off a few days following surgery, and for several weeks, a surgical bra must be worn constantly. This is your plan up until the bruising and swelling go away or until your surgeon tells you otherwise. The only time you should take off your surgical bra is to take a shower and wash it.
Sutures are typically removed during the first week, but occasionally a surgeon will use dissolvable sutures. After surgery, a moisturiser can be applied multiple times per day if the breast skin is extremely dry. The scarring can heal much more quickly using vitamin E ointment, but the suture area needs to be kept dry at all times, especially after bathing.
While our surgeon will make every effort to keep your incisions as undetectable as possible, it’s vital to keep in mind that the scars are substantial and long-lasting. They could remain crimson for several months before gradually fading to become tiny white lines. The scars are typically placed so that they won’t be noticeable if you wear low-cut blouses and dresses.
While recovery typically takes two weeks, most people are back at work in three.
DURATION OF STAY:
The majority of surgeons advise taking a Medical Holiday of 10 to 12 days, during which time you will schedule routine follow-up meetings with your surgeon. We advise that you engage in light exercise and indulge yourself to make the most of your healing time. There is a lot to see and do in Turkey if you feel up to it!
RESULTS
Every patient experiences a different outcome. Gravity, pregnancy, ageing, and weight fluctuations, which may result in new sagging, are other variables that may affect the results. When breast implants are inserted as part of the treatment, they offer support to the newly positioned breast tissue, which may prolong or improve results.
COMPLICATIONS AND RISKS
All surgical operations can experience complications and risks.. Some patients have nipple and areola numbness (typically following significant repositioning). Additionally, there is a chance of bleeding, infection, or significant scarring. Patients who choose to have breast implants placed during a breast lift should be aware of potential post-operative problems.
Being realistic is crucial, especially when hereditary qualities are involved because breast lift surgery may not always live up to expectations. Sometimes, one breast develops differently than the other, leaving one solid and in the right place while the other is not. Other scenarios that might not provide as obvious consequences include:
Nipples and areolas that point downward, especially if they are situated below the breast creases, pendulous breasts of adequate size breasts but currently lack substance or firmness
Although breast lifts can be done at any age, some surgeons advise delaying the procedure until breast development is finished. Your ability to breastfeed will not be impacted by breast lift surgery.
PREOPERATIVE SCREENING
Prior to hospital admission and surgery, it is standard hospital practice for your surgeon to do diagnostic tests and/or laboratory investigations to make sure you are healthy enough for surgery.
Before departing for a foreign country, the patient must undergo blood tests to avoid potential cancellations.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Short-term bruising
Swelling
Discomfort and Numbness
Permanently scarred skin
Dry Itchy skin
RECOVERY
Return to work: 2-3 Weeks
A more demanding physical activity of 4 weeks is adequate.
Injuries will heal: between a few months and a year (or longer, pending individual healing)
