A Brazilian butt lift/ BBL is a surgery that involves removing extra body fat from one place and injecting it into the buttocks. Often, by reducing fat in a “problem area” like the hips, thighs, or lower abdomen, the entire lower body becomes more aesthetically pleasing. Contrary to its name, Brazilian butt lift surgery has nothing to do with Brazilian culture; rather, it is a tribute to the Brazilian surgeon who originally carried out the technique.
Diet and exercise can both assist you shape your body, but occasionally they are unable to achieve your desired outcome, such as larger breasts or a rounder bottom. While breast and butt implants have been readily available for many years, an increasing number of people are opting for surgery to obtain a larger, more sculpted behind without implants.
Brazilian Butt Lift
THE BENEFITS
The Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is based on fat grafting, a procedure that involves extracting a patient’s own fat from one area of the body and re-implanting it where it is needed — in this case, the buttocks.
Injections are made into the butt to:
Boost volume
Create form and radiance
Increasing the volume of the upper and outer butt by lifting the buttocks
It also aids in shaping the waist by removing your love handles, giving you a lovely hourglass appearance.
A BBL produces a more proportionate body with an hourglass figure, smaller waist, and a fuller, rounder butt.
THE SURGERY
During a BBL, a general anaesthetic is used. The total treatment might take anywhere between 2 and 4 hours, depending on how much liposuction is necessary.
The BBL is essentially a two-stage surgical process:
Stage 1: The first stage of the procedure involves liposuctioning excess fat from certain body parts. The thighs, abdominal wall, love handles, lower back, and mid-back are among the usual sites. This has the additional effect of reducing body fat in other areas, usually contouring the waist to draw attention to the buttocks. After the liposuction-removed fat has been cleaned and processed, the second part of the procedure can start.
Stage 2: In this stage of the procedure, the patient’s own fat is injected back into the buttocks, where it is moulded, resulting in larger, rounder buttocks. The surgery is finished once the right amount of fat has been injected.
A BBL is a body reshaping surgery that moves fat from undesirable locations to desired locations to give you more attractive curves.
Each buttock cheek might receive between 400ml and 2000ml of fat injections.
While it can be easy to believe that more is better, this is not necessarily the case.
How much fat is injected depends on a number of factors. A few of these include
How much is available
Amount desired/needed
The buttock tissues’ stiffness or looseness
Unfortunately, the percentage of fat that does not survive increases with the amount of fat injected. If too much fat is injected, it will therefore have the opposite effect and raise the risk of complications.
The amount of fat that survives is influenced by a variety of circumstances, which helps to produce a long-lasting effect. These consist of:
- Technique used in liposuction surgery
- Technique of processing fat
- Technique of re-injecting fat
- Fat volume injected
- general state of patients
- Smoking
- compliance of patients with postoperative instructions
The fact that a significant portion of the fat that is reinjected does not survive is something on which all surgeons can agree. The figures used ranges somewhere between 20-50%. But whatever survives and then becomes permanent after three to six months.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The size and shape of your body are influenced by genetics in addition to nutrition and exercise. Because some people are genetically inclined to have a flat rear, the only way to get bigger, rounder buttocks is through surgery. Brazilian butt lifts restructure your buttocks using your own fat for a more natural appearance and feel than butt implants, which are filled with silicone and inserted in the buttocks.
You must have enough extra fat in your hips, thighs, or lower abdomen for the Brazilian butt lift to be effective. Additionally, you must have good skin tone in your hips and buttocks because the operation does not address loose or saggy skin
Being a customised procedure, butt lift surgery may not be ideal for everyone.
Before making any decisions, always consult your specialist plastic surgeon.
Your surgeon will evaluate your condition and general health before planning the best treatment option for you.
Surgery on the buttocks is not recommended for those who:
Unable to receive anaesthesia
Prone to bleeding tendencies or have poor healing ability
Surgical problems are very likely to occur
You might consider butt lift surgery if:
You are in good physical health.
You’re in a rather consistent weight range.
Your buttocks are sagging and no longer firm and defined.
You have extra or droopy soft tissue in the area of your inner or medial buttock and/or outer buttock.
You don’t smoke or you’ve quit smoking.
You should be aware that visible and noticeable scarring might still form even after a successful healing and surgical outcome. Your surgeon will aim to place each scar in the least noticeable location while limiting the length of the scars. However, scars could be more obvious than you anticipated. You should discuss potential outcomes with your surgeon and ensure that you have reasonable expectations for the procedure.
PREPARING FOR Brazilian Butt Lift
It is important to discuss and disclose:
If you have a pre-existing medical condition
Any medication you use, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal remedies
Upon arrival, you will meet with your surgeon for a physical examination to finalise the surgical plan and discuss your goals and concerns.
During this assessment, your doctor will choose the most appropriate course of action for you and go through all the specifics with you, including any potential drawbacks.
You should go into surgery with realistic expectations.
Prior to your surgery, it’s crucial that you give up smoking weeks prior to reduce risks and improve blood circulation.
RECOVERY AND POST-OPERATIVE CARE:
SURGERY DURATION:
During a BBL, a general anaesthetic is used. The total treatment might take anywhere between 2 and 4 hours, depending on how much liposuction is necessary.
You will stay at the Hospital and be monitored – typically 1-2 nights and then be transported to your hotel for recovery.
POST SURGERY
Your butt will be big and puffy immediately following surgery. You will have all the fat that was injected there, along with significant post-operative swelling.
You will feel sore and bruised in all the areas that had liposuction, and in your buttocks.
After 2 – 4 weeks the initial swelling will go away and a significant amount of the butt size will be lost. Fat that did not survive the procedure is then gradually removed from the body over the course of the following three months. Therefore, it will be at least three months before you receive your final results.
You’ll be given a compression garment to wear after the procedure to aid in the healing process, support the areas that underwent liposuction, and reduce swelling.
You will be given oral painkillers to relieve discomfort, and antibiotics will be recommended to stop any infections.
You should be up and walking the day following your surgery.
You should avoid putting significant weight on your buttocks for a few weeks following the operation. In fact, avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for lengthy periods of time for a full two weeks. The pressure could displace the fat or cause more of it to be absorbed. If you must sit, you should sit on a padded or cushioned surface, and not on hard surfaces. We recommend you get a special pillow to use for the first few weeks for those moments when you must sit down. When sitting, try leaning forwards to have your weight placed on your thighs, rather than your buttocks.
Sleeping on your back should be avoided in order to relieve direct pressure from the bottom. The best positions for sleeping are on your side or stomach.
If your employment does not require a lot of physical activity, you should be able to go back to it after two weeks. In general, it takes about a month to start feeling normal, two months to start exercising again, and three to six months to see the full results.
DURATION OF STAY:
The majority of surgeons advise taking a Medical Holiday of 7 to 12 days, during which time you will schedule routine follow-up meetings with your surgeon. We advise that you engage in light exercise and indulge yourself to make the most of your healing time. There is a lot to see and do in Turkey if you feel up to it!
COMPLICATIONS AND RISKS
Receiving a Brazilian butt lift carries several dangers, such as:
Numerous blood vessels and nerves can be found in your butt. During the procedure, if the cannula runs into one of these structures, it may cause harm, a fat embolism, or even death.
- Bruising.
- Infection.
- Skin changes, such as skin colouring or feeling.
- swelling or in
Observing the surgical preparation and postoperative care guidelines provided by your plastic surgeon will increase success and reduce the risks of possible complications.
All surgical operations can experience complications and risks.
PREOPERATIVE SCREENING
Prior to hospital admission and surgery, it is standard hospital practice for your surgeon to do diagnostic tests and/or laboratory investigations to make sure you are healthy enough for surgery.
Before departing for a foreign country, the patient must undergo blood tests to avoid potential cancellations.
SIDE EFFECTS:
- Swelling\sSoreness
- Infection
- Scarring
- Pain
- Lums under the skin in the areas suctioned or injected
- Loss of skin in the treated areas due to deep infection
- Fat embolism in the heart or lungs, which can be deadly
RECOVERY
Your soreness should subside after one to two weeks. Around the areas where liposuction was performed, you will need to wear a compression garment. You might occasionally require a temporary drain in the incision to drain extra blood or fluid.
For at least two weeks, you won’t be able to sit or lay on your butt. As a result, you’ll have to stand rather than sit and sleep on your stomach or sides.
After a few weeks, you might be able to briefly sit down on a pillow with an even pressure distribution. For about eight weeks, you’ll be unable to sit comfortably without a pillow. You might be able to do a few light workouts at this stage.
For a month, you should refrain from doing any hard lifting or physically demanding tasks.
After your Brazilian butt lift treatment, your body should fully heal in two to three months.
It’s crucial to keep in mind that because every person’s physiology is different, recuperation times may vary. Throughout your recuperation, manage your pain and discomfort according to the instructions of your health professional.
